Press Release - Manly's Surf Arts project.
Aspiring artists of all ages and levels are invited, along with local celebrities, to register to collect a surf board and create a master piece which will go on display in Manly stores from Thursday 29 May until Tuesday 3 June.
The exhibition titled 'Impact of the Ocean - Surf Board Art' is part of the Snowy McAlister surfing festival, where the board will be on show and then donated to Bear Cottage and the Disabled Surfers Association to help them raise much needed funds.
Global Surf Industries have generously donated 100 Waldon 'fish' surfboards to the Manly community for this art exhibition!
Artists wanting to participate will need to drop into 5/14 Ada Place (corner Miles St) Brookvale on Wednesday 30 April between 1pm and 7pm with proof of ID to collect the boards, which are for art purposes only and can't be used for surfing.
Artists will then have 2 weeks to create their masterpiece with completed works required to be returned to the same point they were collected from.
Manly Mainstreet Centre Manager Meegan Clancy said "This is a great opportunity for our retailers to showcase local artists via the boards with photography, sculpting, 3D art and painted pieces expected for everyone to view."
Mark Kelly from Global Surf Industries who donated the boards said "It is a good will gesture to the community. If we can do something which helps the 'surf' feel of Manly, brings joy to people and helps a local charity at the same time, then that's great!"
This year's Snowy is the 21st Winter Surfing Festival. The Festival has 12 surfing divisions including for the first time Tandem Surfing and 2 Stand Up Paddling divisions.
The Manly Malibu Boardriders club is the host of the event each year over the June Long weekend.

Press Release - GLOBAL SURF INDUSTRIES ANNOUNCES PARTNERSHIP WITH NON PROFIT ORGANISATION SURFING MUMS Inc.
Global Surf Industries (GSI) has announced a partnership with Surfing Mums Inc., an Australian organisation made up of a network or surfing mums who meet on the beach each week and mind each others children while the other surfs.
Founded in Bryon Bay in 2006 Surfing Mums Inc. now have 10 groups around Australia and one in New Zealand.
“As a not for profit association Surfing Mums Inc is always looking for ways to meet costs, thankfully for us GSI recognized our contribution to the surfing community by sponsoring us. Without their support we would not have been able to pay our public liability insurance this year or pay for first aid kits for the individual groups. GSI is truly living its philosophy “Life is better when you surf” by helping us get more mums out in the water who would otherwise be stuck in a coffee shop with their mothers group eating cake and drinking coffee and wondering what the surf was like!” said Vanessa Thompson, founder of Surfing Mums Inc.
Mark Kelly, Managing Director of GSI said “We support a number of non profit organizations that fit under our company mantra :Life is better when you surf”. Surfing Mums Inc. certainly fits under this banner and we encourage any other companies within the industry to help Surfing Mums out with a sponsorship deal to help spread the word about Surfing Mums and encourage ALL surfing mums to join their local group or even set up their own.”

Press Release - Surf Expo - Hang Up System Launch a huge Success
The January Surf Expo in Orlando saw the official release of the Hang Up System for Surfboards in North America. It was nothing short of a huge success as more than 200 stores took orders forms for the system and currently about 80 stores already converting some or all of their retail surfboard presentation to Hang Ups.
Many of the retailers that visited the Global Surf Industries booth at the show said that it was the best innovation they has seen there. The device allows for surfboards to be hung by their fin system using the patent pending Hang Up hook. The system gives stores a huge amount of flexibility in where they can display boards in their stores. “I would like to see the board room out the back of the store become a thing of the past” said Mark Kelly – President of Global Surf Industries. “ More and more stores are seeing that hardware is where it is at. With the distribution of surf clothing going way outside the surf channel the one thing that surf stores can excel at is speciality advice and sales in the hardware area. Having hardware up the front of the store makes sense”.
The retail market has been screaming for a professional surfboard display system for a long time. Many of the racking systems that are available now take up huge amounts of the retail floor and actually end up damaging the boards. The Hang Up system can be used on any hanging rack that is high enough off the ground. You can even use regular slat wall fitting. “The system is so sturdy we hung our SUPs off it at the show. People were amazed at the space saving properties as well. We received nothing but positive comments and orders at the show. ” Said Kelly. The system has three separate hangers for surfboards with FCS, Futures or Longboard boxes. The Hang Up system is exclusively sold by Global Surf Industries and their network of international distributors around the world.
