GSI announces new West Coast Sales Director.

Global Surf Industries is excited to announce that Mike Tabeling has been appointed to the role of West Coast Sales Director. After receiving over 250 applications for this position Mike came out on top. With his many varied roles within the industry Mike’s experience will be of enormous benefit, not only to the company but also our customers.

Mike was inducted into the East Coast Surfing Hall of Fame in 1996 and really understands the GSI philosophy, that is working with surf stores to help develop a margin driven surfboard program that focuses on all levels of surfers, as well as the other side of GSI’s business which is helping existing surfboard brand owners understand that quality outsourced production is not only available to them but is a viable solution to developing and growing their business.

GSI announces their first licensing deal.

Today GSI has signed an open ended licensing deal with Gary Loveridge of Wizstix Surfboards in Australia to use his Step Deck Fish Template in their "Seven" range of surfboards. This template is quite radical in design, and has been refined by Gary over the past ten years.

GSI is committed to the development of their brands globally and the licensing of this performance shape is just the start of what we see as the future of surfboard retailing. GSI is also committed to the development of their range and brands. "To date deals like this are very uncommon. Their are only a couple of companies to my knowledge that have ever offered a licensing fee or royalty for a shapers template" said Mark Kelly - President and Company Director of GSI. "I know Gary has worked long and hard in the industry and yet this, is the first time he has been offered anything like this and he is extremely happy with the deal".

To our knowledge Cobra is the only surfboard manufacturer in the world currently producing surfboards in an ISO 9002 certified facility. This quality regime coupled with Cobra's ability to capitalize on their massive buying power of raw materials and GSI's ability to service the market place helps to ensure that surfboards are slowly transformed from the lost leader to the profit center in surf stores they should be.
