DESCRIPTION

The Bean is essentially a hybrid model offering an exciting alternative to riding more traditional shortboard designs. Appropriately named, the Bean has a full nose template and added width through the centre which transitions smoothly into a tail outline typical of a standard shortboard. The unique shape of the Bean, combined with the relaxed full-length rocker profile, provides a platform for efficient paddling, quick start-up acceleration, and flow in fuller waves. The Bean also delivers exceptional performance in bigger conditions, proving the true versatility of this model.
Fast and full of spark as a thruster or a quad; the Bean offers acrobatic performance in the smaller sizes, and reliability in the higher volume sizes. As a general rule you can ride the Bean 3-to-6 inches shorter than your regular shortboard.

- FUTUREFLEX TECHNOLOGY
FutureFlex represents the very latest in surfboard technology and design. The construction process combines a stringerless, high-density custom shaped EPS core laminated with biaxial fiberglass, epoxy resin and a parabolic carbon fiber frame.
The carbon fiber frame within the laminate is the key to the performance of these boards. Designed to maximize speed and drive while minimizing twisting, FutureFlex boards essentially store and release energy as the surfer transitions through a turn. The result is a fast and lively, highly responsive surfboard that's perfectly geared for high performance surfing. You can find out more about GSI's surfboard construction on our surfboard technologies page

Lock from Tamarindo, Costa Rica says:I had my eye on this board primarily for the shape. I have had quads before and I thought I would give one a shot with more nose volume. Also being able to use it as a thruster is sick for when the waves get bigger down here but every day, day to day, whatever, its such a versatile board, super fast, great on the rail and I have to paddle way less. I love it.. its the best board I have had in a few years. Just traded my Fred Rubble Merrick for it.. now the merrick just sits on my rack while this new puppy goes out every day. We will see how she does on DOH ollies this weekend. Yew! p.s - Im on the 6'0''

Simon Duff from Victoria, Australia says:My 6'6' aloha bean is a super smooth board to ride, preferably in clean conditions. I took it with me to my latest trip in the Maldives in september and it performed outstandingly. I road it at Lohis left, 10 knots offshore and around 5ft consistently. The extra volume up front gives me the edge in paddling onto waves early with great start up excelleration, speeding down the line with little effort. You can turn the board as hard as you like, hitting the lip and coming down feels smooth. The future flex system obviously works because you get that extra drive with no effort. many crew in the water did comment on the speed that the board has and the fact that I thought it might be a little to thick on the rails and tail, it proved me wrong. There were many crew at lohis surfing future flex systems. Great boards. Get on one. Simon Duff, Mornington Peninsula Surfschool.

Brendan Williamson from NSW, Australia says:I bought a Bean. My wife thinks she's been replaced. Enough said!

Josh from NSW, Australia says:I rode a friends 5'6" Bean down in Tassie a couple of months ago and didn't want to give it back. I ended up with my own and the thing is so responsive you just have to move your eyeballs and it will be happily off in that direction. The most impressive thing for me is it's acceleration, one pump and the bean is flying down the line. I have the future flex model with small fins in. It paddles about the same as my regular 6'0" poly shortboard and it's more more maneuverable but sometimes a bit skittish in bumpy stuff. I guess I bought it because I wanted to do things I can't do on my 6'0" and even after a few surfs I'm doing new stuff; something I can't say I've done on my shortboard for years. They are heaps of fun... now all I need is some waves.
