DESCRIPTION

The Modern Old Skool is an old school design with some mod cons like SLX technology making it a lot lighter than it's friends back in the day. This board is a dedicated noserider and features 60/40 rails and a massive 7" squaretail with a deep single nose concave set in a bellied vee-to-vee bottom contour. The Old Skool features a deep, long nose concave and classically shaped and tuned 60/40 rails that make this board stick in the pocket so you can hang heels. The single fin box comes with a massive noseriding skeg finishing out this gloss polished classic longboard.
This is a beautiful board to look at, admire and ride. It has real character both in and out of the water.
WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUT THIS BOARD"I really think this board has something to offer for any long boarder, from the "traditionalist" to the high performance surfer. "

- SLX EPOXY TECHNOLOGY
SLX construction produces a controlled flex pattern by combining the versatility of epoxy materials with the added advantage of reduced weight. All SLX boards have an EPS core with a high-grade timber stringer, which is laminated by hand using epoxy resign, biaxial fiberglass and a specialized construction process.
Featuring a high strength-to-weigh ratio, and designs CNC milled directly from the shapers files. SLX boards feel light, responsive and are very sensitive under your feet. These boards are extremely versatile, easy to ride, and can be used in wide variety of conditions. You can find out more about GSI's surfboard construction on our surfboard technologies page

Benjamin from NSW, Australia says:Most common question I’m asked when riding the Modern Old Skool – “How do you get so much speed?” This board has the best of both worlds; because of the SLX technology it’s light so it picks up waves very easily and once you’re up it absolutely flies down the line. That said, the retro shape and rails makes it ride and glide like a log. It gravitates towards the pocket of the wave and is the best board I’ve had for noseriding thanks to the concave under the nose and extra width up at the top. The boards not a high performance longboard so it takes a little bit of time to figure out the sweet spots to turn and do carves, you’ve got to get to know it. Another great factor is that despite the board being lightweight, it's hard too crack. I surf over a shallow point break where rocks are unavoidable and the boards taken its fair share of hits without dinging and even when it does ding the damage is minimal compared to what I’ve had with other boards.

Ross Alioto from CA, US says:After riding the "Modern Old Skool" 10 footer I have to re-think my position on light-weight epoxy long boards. I have always appreciated the feel of the traditional heavy / volon long board for the feeling of momentum on a small wave, but after riding the Old Skool I didn't feel like I was sacrificing anything when it came to speed and momentum. The template and flat rocker profile of this board is fully "old school", right down to the "kick" you get out of the turns... very old school feel. Its width made it very stable for walking to the nose, while the light weight aspect of the board made it very easy to handle. At times when the wave began to soften or fade, getting up to the nose made this board find a new "gear" and continue down the line where a heavier board may have bogged down. I really think this board has something to offer for any long boarder, from the "traditionalist" to the high performance surfer.
