The Walden Magic Model remains one of the world’s most popular longboards due to its versatility and unique design features. Our super durable X2 construction makes this model the perfect travel companion for surfers needing a board that will perform to high standards and also withstand some tough treatment.

DESIGN: Walden’s patented hull design has become synonymous with performance longboarding, however the design is easily transferred through different board shapes and sizes, and rider skill levels from novice to experienced.

CONTOURS: Single concave from the nose through to the midpoint. Double concave extends towards the fins with moderate vee out through the tail.

ROCKER: The smooth, full-length rocker compliments the bottom contours and has extra flip out the back making it turn super tight off the tail for more experience surfers.

RAILS: The hard edge running around the perimeter of the board provides bite on the face, while the beveled rail maintains the boards forgiveness and maneuverability.

From the novice rider through to the savvy competitor looking for extended nose time, this is a longboard that does everything well in waves ranging from 1 to 10 feet.

    • X-2 TECHNOLOGY
X-2 Epoxy is a multi-layered sandwich construction using epoxy resin, woven fiberglass and sheets of thin wood veneer wrapped around a nigh density EPS core. This construction method produces a light, extremely reliable surfboard that's particularly strong on the deck. The durability and strength of X-2 Epoxy boards make them ideal for SUP's and Surfers who like to travel or are new to surfing. X-2 Epoxy boards feel solid under your feet, perform incredibly well and maintain their appearance for many years.

Mark Harstad from Florida, USA says:

I bought this board a month ago. I was riding a different longboard and broke it so thought I'd get the famous Walden. I weigh about 200lbs so I bought the 9'6". I'm 46 and mainly just want to cruise and catch waves without having to work so hard. This board catches waves earlier and more easily than any board I've ever riden. I was sitting about 15' further out than everyone else and still catching waves. After the session one guy said, "I was wondering why you were sitting so far out, like he's never gonna catch anything back there and then you caught more waves than anyone." It also turns easily. Very fun. Enough said. Great board.

Just got my 2nd Magic Model........... Was worth the wait as I snapped my first board and just had to have another one as the first one progessed my surfing to new standards! The 3 months waiting for it to arrive were killer but sooooooo worth it! Been out for 2 surfs on it and the excitement was like the first time you stand up! My other boards dont even get a look in with this board in the quiver! This has to be the most progressive yet forgiving board I have ever ridden it performs in 2ft mush to 12ft monsters (thats how I snapped my first) and you always feel in control! Do your surfing a favour GET ONE!

I travelled to Costa Rica in March with my son-in-law to surf Playa Hermosa and Playa Jaco. We rented two 9'0" Magic Models (one regular glass, one E-3 epoxy) from Chuck's W.O.W. Surfshop in Jaco - a great place with great people! - and had a blast! I especially loved the E-3 board's strength, durability and handling qualities. We surfed double overhead Hermosa to shoulder high Jaco with great success. The boards were awesome and I plan to buy the E-3 Walden Magic Model 9'0" for my next board. It compares very favorably with my Rusty 9'0" performance longboard! Pura vida!

Peter Orchard from NSW, Australia says:

I have had my 10" Epoxy Magic for a couple of weeks. The surf has been small and these are the conditions in which I often ride a long board. First impressions were of the strong rocker profile, flex and lightness which give this board a looseness I haven't experienced in a ten footer. The extra rocker seems to push a bit of water when paddling hard as compared to the flatter boards I have but the exceptional nose riding and walkability of this board makes it a real pleasure to ride. Definitely one of the best longboards I have owned.

Steve Walden fits right in with shapers Steve Boehene and Bill Stewart. All 3 are the best in their field. However Walden goes back to his roots; "What works best in all kinds of surf". Walden shapes..! I've ridden two of the "Magic models" and He Doesn't need to fix what works so well. They standout in a variety of conditions. If its 1-2 foot slop or down the line- Lower Trestles. They work well. Just find the right size and have a good one'. Jim-bro...

Patrick Kilcomons from NJ, USA says:

There is nothing better than the feeling you get the moment you paddle out on a board and the board just feels right. It’s kind of like a surfer and his board’s version of love at first site. Well, I got that feeling the second I paddled out that evening on my new 9’ 6” Magic. The surf wasn’t great but the board felt great right from the start and it only got better from there. I have been out on some clean days now and I am truly impressed at what a great all around board it is. I was able to get out on a decent sized day and was surprised at how comfortable I was getting into waves and making late drops. The board felt much shorter than 9’ 6” on some steep NJ beachbreak. What’s truly impressive is that this same board feels so stable when you want to get to the nose. I have to admit that I am far from a skilled noserider and I have struggled a bit on getting some tip time here in NJ….that is going to change really soon with my new board. I’m amazed at what huge difference

Paul from California, United States says:

The 9'6" Magic is my favorite longboard hands-down and I've owned dozens and dozens of longboards. Noserides better than my 10' Infinity Rad Nose Rider, and holds it's turns better than my old hard-rail 9' 2 1/4" performance longboard by a well-known shaper. Paddles well, noserides like there's no tomorrow and serves up tight, solid round-house cutbacks. It's not a fast or loose board but it's a solid performer in a very, very wide range of surf - I use it mostly in 1-4' waves but have gone up to about 10' with without running into usage problems A word of advice: Rear fin selection turned out to be important for me on this board. Avoid narrow fins with a cut-away base or fins with very little tip - Otherwise the board doesn't seem to want to power all the way through the turns. My favorite fins for the Magic line are the old, deep and thick fins (not sold anymore last I looked) between 8-10 inches.
