I bought the board a day before I left for Hossegor, France and didn't feel sorry about it. It takes off like no other board I've got or had and you can turn it a lot harder than I originally thought .. surfin' it rail to rail needed to get used to but it helped my surfin' get back to what it was 6 years ago before I surfed my log most of the time.if you want something between a good rippin' shortboard and your stylish fish .. this is what I recommend but don't see it as move from a longboard to a shortboard as it surfs completly different. The Quad fins are good (a lot better to what I rode in the mid 90's) but you should go to a FCS testcenter to try a couple of other fins for the quad to sute your surfin' skills .. Oh one more thing .. the best thing for when you live in a place like mine where your do not get good surf that often ...

The specs are a good guide to the board. I bought this board a few months ago and it has improved my surfing no end. The big fat nose makes it really easy to paddle into waves. You just have to look at a wave and this thing takes off. I was struggling a bit with my surfing before I got this board (been surfing about a year) and this board has boosted my skills and confidence no end. It's not exactly something you would see Occy ripping into an 8 foot barrel at cloudbreak, but I don't care. Looking at it you might think it's a fish, but it's better than a fish. Only negative I reckon (=think for you seppos) is the diamond tail. Might look great, but from a durability point of view it is not ideal. Every time you put it down on the tail or the rail saver on your leggie pulls down the force is concentrated right in the one point. I haven't busted the tail yet, but there are a few cracks. It has a few topside compression dings but nothing too bad. Not just for beginners either as I swap boards with my mate "dangerous daz" (surfer for 20 years) all the time and he loves it! Busted the nose of the board on my head on the other day so it will be in the shop for the next week and I will miss it.

I was looking for a fish alternative for a summer board that would work well on the sandbar breaks of the Pacific Northwest. I was impressed on my first go out on the CD-4, but was really impressed on my third time out on it. I could feel the difference from my normal thruster set up, more speed but still agile enough for cutbacks on par with any of my tri-fin boards. This board is my recomendation to anyone who might be looking for a performance utility shortboard. I'm looking forward to my next outing.
