Design inspiration drawn from many larger Tandem and SUP boards.
The volume removed from the length and redistributed it to the width and thickness while maintaining performance. It is about 1/2-3/4" thicker and 1-2" wider than a standard longboard, the Mega Magic will float like a board that is 12-18" longer. For example the bigger guy that normally rides a 10' with the Mega he can ride an 8'-9' without giving up float or stability.
The Mega Magic features the Magic bottom contours and rocker profiles allowing you to push this board to its limits. Riding this board almost feels like cheating because of the unfair advantage you have over others in the line up.WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUT THIS BOARD
"The board turns well ,nose rides like a park bench , I normally surf boards between 10 foot and 11 foot, this board paddles as good and catches waves with ease..."

Bought the MM 9'6" a year and a half ago. I'm 66 years old and weight 195 lbs. In good shape-Hit the gym a couple of times per week to survive out in the water. Surf 3-5 days per week year round in SoCal. Board is a great noserider. Able to get close to tip on a regular basis. Paddles fairly well. Super stable. I tend to catch wave fairly late ( due to slow mushy waves). Board turns both in the front and back of board. (use ankles when I'm close to the nose to turn). Super stable. Due to the width and volume of the board, installed a vent and an SUP handle. (do my own repairs). Overall give it an 8 out of 10. I still have my old 10' Boardworks Magic Epoxy to compare. Like the shorter Mega better. Would recommend to any surfer over 190 lbs that wants to easily catch waves and noseride. My only major complaint is the 21 lb weight. Have fun out there.

Just bought the 9'6" Mega Magic. OMG completely blown away. Yes it feels corky to start with, it isn't your standard longboard, and I didn't want it to be, but by wave 2 when you are thinking about a layback snap. Wow. Runs fast, paddles like a dream, and yes, you can snap it around. Yes, there is plenty of volume but There is no extra weight at all. Coming down from 10', 53yo and carrying about 120kg, I'm already thinking how short can I go. Even the fin setup is at odds with my ideas of what looks right? I love the tail. Steve Walden has knocked out an amazing board concept, and I can only say thankyou. People have always said how good the magic models are, well the mega is awesome, absolutely magic. I am truly stoked and simply frothing for my next surf. Just like to thank the online crew and friends at GSI. Oh, and I could enjoy a ham sandwich whilst up on the nose. They say the best surfer is the one having the most fun.... I haven't been this stoked for a long time. That is Matt Johnson!

Enjoyed surfing my 11 foot SUP but couldn't turn it very well. Started looking for a shorter SUP board and came across the Mega Magic. Quite Flight surf shop in New Smyrna Beach, FL. gave me a good trade in price for my SUP, so I did the deal. I had forgotten the fun of surfing with such great maneuverability, I am 65 years old and weigh 196 pounds a strong swimmer. The Mega Magic floats me very well and catching a wave is so easy, I'm taking it to Coasta Rica in Feburary! Walden has gotten me as excited about surfing as I was in the "60's," now that's MAGIC!

I'm a former linebacker that moved to So-Cal, big dude at 240lbs. Learned to surf on this board (8'). Years later and with a solid quiver in tow it is still my favorite. Paddles and surfs fast, can set a hard edge on a vertical wall, length is decreased relative to volume so you can turn quickly, deck is flat and a pleasure to walk, firm under foot, not squirrely or loose. I basically spend small 1-4 days laughing at my shortboard counterparts, as I get every wave I want and they struggle to drop in. Do yourself a favor and pick one up. (Then again don't, more waves for me!)

awesome all round board , i am 75kg and have always loved longboarding but didnt have the weight to throw a 9ft board around , this board can be carved so easily on the bigger surf and holds the rail very nice. the day i brought it i freaked out because i could hardly get my arm around it walking down the beach, that day i surfed overhead smiths beach WA and was the only longboarder out and it deffinately held its own out there. highly recomended for any level of surfer. just wish they came in a few different paint options. only negative is the board is starting to yellow quiet bad and i dont leave it in the sun. thanks for making me look good surfing

Robin Thomson from WA, Australia says:
I have surfed all sorts of wave craft over the years including 7 longboards. I don't often surf stand up often nowadays preferring the immediacy and speed of a high performance surf mat. However, I like to keep a longboard on hand for those smaller fat days when the waves are not sitting up enough to bother with the mat. Having recently ridden a mates no longer available Munoz 9' 3" x 4 " thick Glide and been most impressed with it's performance I searched the internet for something similar and was delighted to discover Walden were producing the epoxy 9' x 3 7/8 " Mega Magic. I rode it for the first time today and it was a revelation once I figured out I was trying too hard to paddle into the waves. Being so light it was easy to chuck around, I got some good nose time and of course it would all too easily slip into the waves. I have to say, for someone who rarely gets out on a longboard anymore, it made me look good. After only one session I can already vouch that this is the most fun and accessible of the 3 Walden boards (10' 10" SUP & 9' 6" Magic) I have now owned and I was pretty pleased with both of those other boards. So you have my recommendation now to go along with all the others that are here. So what are you waiting for? Go for it as I doubt you will regret it.

april 2014, took my aussie 9ft 6inch board out today in 3 foot waves, just got back into surfing after 20 years off, thought my inability to catch waves and be mobile was due to the layoff, I jumped on a mates 9ft 6inch waldon mega magic whilst he rode mine, I cleaned up with some magic rides to the beach , could not believe how easy and fast the board was to paddle, and soo easy to get on a wave , despite the size and thickness it was extremely easy to throw it up and down the face of wave, at 90kg and 53 yrs this has reignited the passion , I have put my 9ft 6 inch and 8 ft aussie boards [only 3 months old] up for sale and purchased the 9 foot and 7ft 6 inch today ,the waldons have blow the aussie boards away , wow , I was stunned how good a large board could be !

Arrow from Western Au, Australia says:
I purchased both the 8 and 9.6 foot mega magic boards and have never looked back. I really enjoy the ease of paddling onto the wave that both boards provide whilst also being very satisfied with how the boards handle on a variety of waves. I weigh in at 98 kgs and would, at best, be an intermediate level surfer however I have found these boards to be quite forgiving which makes me even more of a mega magic fan. I have surfed a wide variety of breaks and always felt comfortable in what ever size surf presented on the day safe in the knowledge that the mega magic would easily be up to the task at hand. Some people have concerns at the so called 'corky' feel of the boards given their thickness but that has never bothered me probably due to me being a little heavier than the average surfer. If you are considering purchasing a longboard do yourself a favour and have a look at a mega magic, I think you will be pleasantly surprised at what you may find.

Pete Scott from Victoria, Australia says:
Hi, I bought a 9'6" Mega Magic and it is absolutely fantastic. Paddles easily onto the wave. I was initially concerned about the volume as I weigh 110 kgs right in the middle between a 9' and the 9'6", if you follow the 1 litre / Kg of body weight rule. Mark of Surf and Sail Australia advised me to go for the 9'6 and boy am I pleased. This board does everything I need it to, paddles easily, turns so easily and stays on the reforms no falling off the back of the wave. Only trouble with the long rides is the long paddle back out. I can get up on the nose and it is surprising how much control you have of the board when up there. I highly recommend a Mega Magic. I got back into surfing 2 years ago after a 15 year break and I should have bought one of these first up. Only had the board 2 weeks and I am rapt, great board. Buy on of these and you won't regret it.

My 7'2" Mega Majic is the one board I will never get rid of. I sit in the line up on the outside with all the Longboarders and stay with them wve for wave, but have a lot more turning ability, and responsivenes. I have been trying to get someone to make me this board for 20 years with no luck. Everybody that rides it loves it, I have a few friends that try to get me to get something more cooler looking, I think it's because they see me getting all the waves when I'm in a potato chip crowd. If you are reading this and have anything to do with sales of these, the only thing I would change is I would love to have a 7'0 then it would fit totally behind the seat in our Prius, which it does now, but for long trips that 2 " would make my wife a lot happier. Seriously if you ever make a shortet one I'll be the first to buy it.

I would like to add this to my other review:After using this MEGA MAGIC now for 6 months I can say that returning to a board with less flotation would make no sense at all.Its just so easy to ride, that the fun factor is hightened as soon as you hit the water. No longboard that I have ridden for decades has been this easy or as enjoyable.I recomend it to all who ask about it.GET YOURS & GO SURF!...and have FUN!!!

Have had my 9-0 mega a week now & I love it.Reminds me how much fun my 24",60s slot bottoms & stepdecks were as a teenager.I just turned 60yrs old & ride Floridas crummy, sectioney waves except for those special days.Loved this board from the first paddle out(flotation, flotation, flotation)Paddles easily, catches waves easily, turns great, transitions through sections nicely.Oh,did I mention it noserides as good as it was designed too.It does!!! The only negative is the board needs a deckpatch,I am a kneepaddler from way back and after a week it already has kneewells on the deck.(Anyone else from GSI kneepaddle?)In closing I would highly recomend this board! HAVE FUN!!!

I just wanted to tell you how happy I am with the Walden Board I just purchased. I am a 58 year old NJ sufer that has been around since the days of big old longboards, through the whole transition and back again. I've owned various boards (some of which I utilized a local shaper to have my own designs realized) and surfed in various locations (from Hawaii to Puerto Rico and back), so I've been around a while. I have always wanted to ride a Walden Magic Model, so this spring while shopping for a new board I stopped in Eastern Lines in Belmar, NJ to check out the Magic Models. While comparing the various models resident in the shop, Barry pointed me to the "Mega" model. Now I had seen pictures of the template on-line, and really didn't think I would want one, then I saw it in person and I was even more unsure!! Long story short, I was convinced to purchase it by both Barry (the store mgr) and my colleague that I had brought along with me. Even as the board sat on the floor of my living room, I still had my misgivings, as I just kept saying, "it is so darn wide and thick". I have since been riding it, using a full suit no less, and find it to be INCREDIBLE!! Since I have been riding it, I have only missed/had one wave wash out underneath me (and that was one that I was pushing to see how small a wave and how far out I could catch one)!! I am still getting used to the board and find it to be very responsive as well. I can't wait to "shed the rubber" and really be able to ride it comfortably!, but I just wanted to say THANKS FOR A GREAT BOARD!! I am looking forward to spending the summer and fall on it.

1st off, I work for GSI just so you know ewhre I'm coming from and this was one of our Demo boards I used on a Demo day. I surfed the 7'2 in knee to hip high jan juc -offshore clean-and it stole the show. it was amazing, so much so then my freind who was on his 5,10 fish got fed up with me paddling back out grinning and demanded I give him a go"it was only fair". It surfs unreal, pumps like a shortboard, literally, gets heapsof speed, very easy to turn, top turn, floater etc. Great board can't ait to surf it again. I weigh 75/165 pounds and could knee padle it-just-so the floatation is unreal but still fits the wave face with the step rail. That board has changed my perception of thickness and width and perfromance -very well done Steve Walden. Another great board. I reckon you could use the 9' Mega as a SUp if you are under 70kg. I mostly surf performance shortboards so if you usually surf a larger board-then you'll love it even more than I did. Plus you can fit it on the plane.

Only brought the 9 foot Mega board 2 weeks ago , Straight out on nice point break 2 strokes on wave ,The board turns well ,nose rides like a park bench , I normally surf boards between 10 foot and 11 foot, this board paddles as good and catches waves with ease, i was a bit worried that the thickness of board would limit the boards performance but it doesn't , best board i have ridden by far, i am 88 kgs and floats me like the Queen Mary .I I have now surf the beach breaks with this board and i was very supprised by its speed . I would recommend this board to anyone (ANOTHER GREAT WALDEN BOARD) I have had a 10 foot magic model for 2 years which is a great board but this board for me is awesome

I rode this board for the first time last weekend, it was a super impressed with the board. I have the 7'2, I weight 80kgs and I was sitting high out of the water in the line up. When I turned and paddles for my first wave and it took only 2 paddles and I was up and riding. The board was super responsive, much more than I thought it would be for a big chunk of a board. It rides really well and zooms along the wave face. 2 thumbs up from me. If you are a bigger guy I reckon you could ride the 7'2 or 8'0 really easily.
