I really like my 7'10 walden super wide. In fact since I bought the board I have hardly ridden my other mals. It paddles easily, catches wave really easily, has the extra width for smooth planning and the volume for great flotation (very handy for a fat buggerlike me).The board is great in all conditions from waist to over head high waves. I was so impressed with the board I have bought two. However I have the two criticisms or concerns with the fins and the glass job. Firstly I found that the fins provided (small 3 inch side and a 9 inch centre fin made the board unresponsive so I replaced them with a set of FCS M7 thrusters and used a FCS longboard finbox adaptor with the M7centre fin. I found made the board more responsive and that it a surfed more like a shortboard. Secondly I think the glassing is a bit thin as it seems to fracture or get pressure dings quite easily and you have to be quite gentle with the board especially when loading the board into the car or onto a rack. Having said that I would recommend the board to any one looking for a compromise between a short and longboard . Well worth the money

I bought this board from a surfshop when I was in the San Diego area and brought it back with me to Northern California. I am transitioning to shorter longboards. I wanted a surfboard with a wide width that can paddle well and manuever like a shortboard. Just looking at the Walden superwide board from the surfshop rack, and glancing at the dimensions, I knew that this was the board I envisioned to re live my shortboard days over 25 years ago!. The board performed very well. The responsiveness is instant! I need to take it out on a bigger day to dial it in and understand its maximium peformance. I am confident that it will perform. To date, I started off with a 10ft log 1 year ago. This board brought my transition down to the 7'4" !! I now own 2 GSI boards (the other, is the 7S superfish) and I am very happy with your products. Thanks! Ron

Just a week ago I bought the Superwide 7,4. A long board felt just too big for me (65Kgs) and my car ;-) and the Dutch wave conditions do not alow regular surfing on smaller/less volume boards. 'Bought it, and surfed it !' Big smile on my face. I tested the board modest conditions (2/3feet waves). It feels just right! Sven whatslooz@gmail.com

I recently received a Walden Superwide to surf in early 2008. I have only ever ridden a longboard, so taking on a 7'4" board was always going to be interesting! However, this board allowed me to ride as if I was on a longboard, with all the stability and smoothness in the ride - but it also gave me the ability to have a higher level of speed and performance. I could all of a sudden turn in a way that I'd only dreamt of!! This board rocks - and its not only just for big guys!! Steve Walden, you are a legend.
