Great Board! Easy & Fun!
MKB from Hawaii, USA says:
Started surfing my 6'6" SLX Fatburner as a quad and I don't think I'll ever go back to a thruster! The quad set-up is insane for this board. It has incredible drive and speed that carries from one turn to another. What I could do as a lip smack on a thruster, I can now do as a big hack right on the lip--take off straight down to the bottom, big bottom turn, look at the point of attack, get to the lip, step on the tail and WHAMMM!...tons of spray...redirect with no loss of speed, a couple of pumps, set-up again for the next attack, tail stomp at the lip and again WHAMMM!...spray everywhere, everyone's watching and I'm feeling euphoric (but biting my lips to hold back my grin that would have been ear-to-ear), small cutty, and finish with a nice, smooth glide off the wave. So much fun, I would've ended my surf session then, but, nah, had to paddle back out to get that feeling again. Get the picture? Now planning to get Greg's 6'0" Mini Fish for summertime madness. The reviews on this baby has been pretty good. If/when I get it, you know me, I'll be penning my review. Stay tuned and keep surfing my brothers! Aloha.

Just picked-up the 2009 6'6" Fatburner SLX with the 5-fin system and surfed it on 1'-3' slightly blown-out conditions and the board was even better than the 6'10" that I demoed (see my previous comment)! The 6'6" was the perfect size and dimensions that I needed as a magic board. Surfed it as a thruster and I couldn't believe the buckets I was throwing in my round-house cutbacks. In all the critical parts of the wave, the board had unbelievable speed and grip and it was if the board was asking me to do more...I felt like a fighter pilot flying an F-16. This board was such a confidence-booster and it took me to the next level of surfing that I have been trying to achieve for so long. I couldn't keep myself from smiling after every wave ride. Looking forward to riding it in primo surf. Aloha, and keep surfing!
tyler from california, usa says:
board picks up pretty much anything and start to haul ass from fast beach break waves to slow moving rollers, get you moving fast and starts to plane really fast, pretty effortless. The only reason I don't give it "EXCELLENT" rating is the glass job seems to be a little botched, already have a few spider cracks in the glass and haven't had it out on big days or done anything crazy to it. But a great board if you're looking for something different than your standard short board.

I first rode the 6'10" Fatburner in 2-3 ft. waves (Hawaiian scale) at three of the better reef breaks in Waikiki. The board was absolutely amazing! I did maneuvers that I haven't done since surfing in my twenties. It was so easy to paddle, so easy to catch waves, and for it's size, it was loose, responsive and felt like a much shorter board. It felt really good when carrying it under my arm and a couple of surfers that I walked pass on the way to the surf were stoked to see a Fatburner. True to Greg's comment in his Fatburner video, the board "has a broad sweet spot"--very helpful to me as a front-foot surfer, but I found it was easy and quite natural to be riding more off the tail/fins. I felt the single-to-deep double-concaves, along with the vee in the tail, provided instant speed and drive right from take-off and all through the rest of the wave ride. Making it through flat spots to connect to the next wave section was nearly effortless. I caught so many waves in that first surf session that by the end of 4 hours of surfing, I was totally exhausted. This really is a "magic" short board for bigger surfers (I'm 5'9" tall and weigh 200 lbs.). So, for you surfers who are big like me (or bigger) looking for a short board to recapture the joy and enthusiasm in surfing that was left behind with your youth, go get the Fatburner. It will not let you down! Greg once wrote, "The more you have to nurse a board the less instinctively you surf. You surf the board and not the wave, and to me that's just wasting joy." This was true for me for the past 4 years of getting back into paddle/surf shape, after a 6-years hiatus from surfing. The Fatburner changed that for me. The joy is back and the instinctive surfer in me has returned. There is a saying, "You can never go back home." Well, with the Fatburner, you can! I did. Keep surfing!

Jean Carlos Quinones from Texas, Peru says:
I love this board, I am from Peru, but I live in Texas now so I was looking for a board to surf the type of waves we have here, I stopped at this surfshop a couple days ago and I made the best investment of my life, This board is so good and your wave count is amazing. I had many boards from all brands, but this fatburner should be my best one. Any suggestions if this board will work in more challanging waves??
Lenny Wilson from Victoria, Australia says:
Had 4 surfs on my 6'6" Webber fat burner, at first after surfing slow point breaks i was a bit worried about its performance but coming off a 6'10" fish i realised i had to work the board a bit harder because the larger the volume of board the more speed you will get. Surfed Bells and it flew, very impressed with it's rail to rail transition and very reactive to what i wanted it to do. I way 80 kg's and am 52 years old and could be surfing a 6'3" Fat burner, but opted for a board a little bit bigger to catch more waves, the fat burner paddles so easily and i paddle into waves very easily. Just stoked. Go surfing.

Jean-Marc Manning from Queensland, Australia says:
I recently bought a 6'6" Fatburner with the new 5 fin option (I weigh 80 kgs ... on a good day!) and set it up as a quad ... this is by far the best board I have ever owned ... it almost surfs itself! As a quad it is fast as hell and just flys in crappy waves - but it loves 2-4 foot range. So far it shows no sign of slipping and far from being 'corky' it really loves rail-to-rail transition. It probably throws out less spray as a quad but just rocks! From the feel of the board I possibly could have been fine on a 6'3" but I love the extra volume for paddling. Because of the joy of the quad setup I have not bothered setting it up as a thruster. I will buy an after burner for a thruster later this year for bigger waves. Yeah - I highly recommend this board!
Joe Aloha from HK, HK says:
Wow~ This is undoubtedly a Great Board~ Easy to paddle and fast & loose after take off~! I pick a 6'6" one and it is good for surfer shifting from a milabu (like from a 7'7" lime mine) The board help me to improve a lot and now i can enjoy the fun of riding on a shortboard~! Thx again for Mr G.Webber design for this board~! Only a minor thing need to improve is that the board is relatively weak in rail and tail parts, easy to make ting cracks on my lovely boards~ p.s. thx for Mark fm Surf Sail Australia to deliver the boards to HK for me and my friend~!

Enrique Muñoz König from Temuco, Chile says:
Just tried last saturday my new 6`0" fatburner, used it as a quad, SUPER FAST board, paddles great, I`m 83kg and catched alot more waves, besides, the multiple fin plugs gives the option to tune the board to many conditions, the waves were shoulder high to overhead in the big sets and worked great!!! thanks Greg, it was right what I needed. Planing to buy a semi gun, but there`s no SLX version of them, why is that? Maybe instead of a semi, I`d get an afterburner in 6`4" or 6`7" for bigger days. Good waves from Chile! Kike
Thomas from Galicia, Spain says:
I´m 6,0 tall and 95 Kg. This board makes me happy, my surf is similar when i was 10 yr youngest. i´ve tested a lot of boards but nothing like this. thanks Greg for your invention. In Spain needs better distribution of your products, everybody need to go to England for search normal stocks of Webbers.
Brian from Florida, Manatee says:
If you are the old school guy who is looking to catch more waves then you need to get the fatburner. I bought the 6'9" and weigh 230lbs and am catching waves like i did when i was a grom. I have rode this in sloppy, weak florida surf and i literally reached a point where i was done surfing for the day after catching so many waves. This board floats great, paddles with the ease of a longboard and reaches maximum wave count. I would recommend this board to anyone looking to achieve utmost enjoyment out of surfing. Thanks for a great shape for the bigger guys. Stoked beyond recognition.

Sven Bonne from west- vlaa, Belgium says:
Got my 6.3 fatburner yesterday ( 27.02.08) The new '08 version kicks ass. never ridden a fish before ( i'm actually a longboarder on a 9 footer) . Everybody told me that it would take a couple of sessions untill i would get on it and i better wait for clean waves, but the waves were little and sloppy ( Belgian style) but i already managed to get on it and ride a little. now i know this board got's lots of potential and it will inprove my surfing in no time. Can't wait to surf in france and spain with my new favorite board and really see what this board is wurth! And for the statistics i'm 28, 1m78 and i weigh 74kg. and yes my fellow surfers...... Life is better when you surf!!!!! and last but not least, thanks to Gregg Webber for designing this awesome board

I'm 6'2'' 200lbs riding a 6'3'' Fat burner. I'm thoroughly convinced this is one of the best fish you can get.
P-Nizzy from Washington, USA says:
I'd Highly recommend this board if you're steping down from a funboard/mini-mal/mini-Tank to Shortboard. Incredible performance, floatation, easy to paddle, and duck-dives great. The perfect All-arounder for the bigger or intermediate surfer. Surfed on sum Overhead waves and it handled like a champ. Thanks Mr. Webber for making an Awesome board!
Andrew from Victoria, Australia says:
Awesome board. I'm 6'7'' tall and weight 110kg, and the 6'3'' fatburner works a treat! Amazing speed, but also can go easily off the top, with plenty of drive through turns. Perfect board for small slop!!
